Tamil Nadu Global Startup Summit 2025: A ₹127 Crore Leap Toward Global Innovation

The Tamil Nadu Global Startup Summit 2025 (TNGSS 2025), held on October 9 and 10 in Coimbatore, set a new benchmark for India’s startup scene. With the theme “Disrupt to Rise,” the event brought founders, investors, and global leaders together. It turned into a launchpad for investments, partnerships, and inclusive innovation.

From record funding to international collaborations, the summit showed how Tamil Nadu is stepping up as a global startup hub.

₹127 Crore Investment Boost and New Funding Model

The summit unlocked ₹127.09 crore in investment commitments. During the two days, 453 startups pitched to 15 investors in over 1,200 structured meetings.

A major announcement came from StartupTN. It launched the ₹100 crore Co-Creation Fund to strengthen the funding pipeline in Tamil Nadu. The fund will back venture capital firms that invest in local startups. This move aims to build a steady funding ecosystem instead of relying only on seed grants. As a result, more investors will find it easier to support startups in the state.

Global Reach: 750+ Stalls and International Partnerships

This year’s summit became the biggest edition ever. Over 750 startups showcased innovations in deep-tech, healthtech, agritech, AI, manufacturing, and sustainability.

The International Pavilion added a strong global edge. Delegations from 21 countries joined the event. Founders had direct access to foreign investors, accelerators, and startup programs. Tamil Nadu also signed MoUs with several international innovation hubs. These partnerships will open new markets and attract more foreign investments.

Thanks to this global push, Tamil Nadu has moved closer to becoming a major player in the international startup ecosystem.

Inclusive Innovation Takes Center Stage

Tamil Nadu’s startup strategy focuses on equal opportunities for every founder. At TNGSS 2025:

  • The government gave Special Seed Grants to entrepreneurs from differently-abled and transgender communities.
  • It extended additional support to SC/ST founders.
  • Women-led startups continued to lead the way, with nearly half of the DPIIT-registered startups run by women founders.

These steps show the state’s commitment to building a diverse and inclusive ecosystem.

A Rapidly Growing Startup Ecosystem

Tamil Nadu’s startup count grew from around 2,000 in 2021 to over 12,000 in 2025. This sixfold growth shows the strength of the state’s ecosystem.

Tamil Nadu now ranks as India’s third-largest deep-tech hub. It leads in patent filings and focuses on AI, semiconductor technologies, and space-tech.

The Vision 2035 roadmap aims to place Tamil Nadu among the top 20 global startup destinations by 2032. The goal is to grow the ecosystem’s value to $50 billion by 2035. This plan gives founders and investors a clear and exciting path forward.

Tier 2 and Tier 3 Cities Step Up

Innovation is no longer limited to big cities. Tamil Nadu is pushing entrepreneurship deeper into the state.

  • The government handed over Sanction Orders to 15 Incubation Centres under the Scale-up Grant Scheme.
  • 22 Pre-Incubation Centres in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities also received support.

This decentralized approach creates more local innovation hubs. As a result, students and early-stage founders can access mentorship and funding right where they are.
